Sisters' For Life

Driven by the heart, Thank you for the opportunity to share the ministry of Sister's for life and how we became a ministry. My name is Angela Minter and I am the President of Sisters' For Life. We are a Christian nonprofit organization that acts as advocates for pre born babies and parents that find themselves faced with a crisis or unplanned pregnancy. We also advocate for God's family values, all in the name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

We accomplish our mission through several initiatives. The 1st being our weekly radio broadcast. This is one of the ways we raise the awareness of the detriment of abortion and educate parents, families and the community on life affirming alternatives to abortion. Since 1973 approximately 50 million babies have been killed on the alter of choice. Sisters' for life is determined to be used of God to bring this country back to a culture of life. We also use the radio to promote the sanctity of the family as well. The station that we are currently on is 1240 AM WLLV. We are on every Wednesday at 11:30 am. We have had many babies and families saved through our program. However, our goal is to have a global outreach through radio, television and the Internet. As a result we will be able to help the multitude.

One of our other initiatives is sidewalk counseling at the emw abortion mill in Louisville, Kentucky. We are there everyday those doors are open, which is Tuesday - Saturday. We started 2 1/2 years ago. Since that time we have been used of God to save approximately 260 babies that we know of. We also share the gospel with the women and men that come there. In October the Lord used us to lead 8 of the men to JESUS CHRIST. One of the men rededicated his life to the Lord.

In addition, my husband and I have had the honor of being name the God parents of some of the saved babies. I have also had the privilege of being asked to be in the delivery room when some of the babies were born. Some of these same mothers have now become apart of Sisters' For Life's mentor program and abstinence revolution group meetings. These are two other initiatives God has used us to implement.

In the United states each year nearly 1 million teens become pregnant. Over 45 % will abort and less than 10% will place their baby for adoption. This is beyond sad when you consider the over 2 million families ready and waiting to adopt children. Abortion is having a detrimental effect on the family, community and our nation as a whole.

However, out of wedlock births is having an alarming effect as well. Currently approximately 40 % of all babies born in the United States are born out of wedlock. In the African American community alone, nearly 80% are born out of wedlock and 70% of those babies are raised in single parent homes. This is extremely alarming to me because I am a black female. Statistics show that children raised with both mom and dad in the home do better on every level. This should not come as a surprise to us considering God designed the family in that way.

This is why God assign Sisters' For Life to begin a Mentor Program and Revolution Abstinence Group. These initiatives are very vital and have been very effective. We have come along side our teens and young adults and have become their accountability partners. We teach them that through the grace and mercy of God, it is possible to live a life of purity. We are teaching and equipping them through our revolution abstinence curriculum and the word of God, to abstain from all activities that will hinder them from living the life they were created to live.

It is very excited to see these young people receive a greater revelation of the love of God and to discover who they are in Christ Jesus. We are seeing tremendous results. We currently have 30 people in our mentor program and 27 in our revolution abstinence group. Our group meets every Thursday from 7pm to 9pm. Our goal in 2011 is to begin to teach this curriculum in the schools.

SFL also has a intercessory prayer team initiative. We pray for the leadership of this country, pre born babies, families and our nation and world. We have a team that prays Monday through Saturday. We also have a prayer conference call on Wednesday from 5 am until 6:15 am and Saturday from 7 am until 8:30 am. Anyone is welcome to participate by calling our conference call number at (605) 562-3000 access code is 462857 # sign. We stand on the scripture in 2 Chronicles 7 vs. 14. God promised to heal our land if his children pray. We are expecting to see the manifestation of the emw abortion mill closed and the hearts of those working in abortion mills turn toward life and a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

We are also expecting to see more doors open for us to share God's heart about the good plan he has for every family. SFL does speaking engagements on college campuses, political functions, churches, community centers, women's groups and schools. We also lobby for pro life and pro family legislation and laws.

One might ask how SFL got so intricately involved in the fight of faith for life. SFL was actually birthed out of my own personal experience. I am not proud to say that at the age of 17 and 18, my boyfriend and I paid for two of our babies to be killed though abortion. This was without our parents knowledge. At the age of 19 we were away at college together. We found ourselves expecting a third child. It still was not a convenient time for us. As a result we made plans to kill our third child on the alter of choice. Approximately 46 % of women who have abortions use this as their only means of birth control. 47 % of all women who abort will have 2 or more. 95 % of all abortions are done as a means of birth control or to eliminate a unplanned pregnancy. I unfortunately fit into each of those categories.

However, thanks to God's divine intervention our third baby was saved!!! I had made my appointment for the abortion. While I was waiting for the day to come , I spent some of the money. The woman I went to for the balance of the money refused. In addition, she also betrayed my confidence and told my father. Their is alot to be said for betraying a confidence when lives are on the line.

As a result my dad called me in my dorm room. His exact words to me were " YOU CAN'T KILL THAT BABY " his question to me after establishing that I would choose life, was " WHEN ARE YOU AND PEEWEE GOING TO GET MARRIED? " You see my boyfriend Parnell, whom we affectionately called Peewee, was my high school sweetheart. We had been dating since I was 15 years old. We talked about marriage all the time and our families knew all about. We declared our unyielding love for one another like most teens do. However, no the rubber has met the road.

Did we really love each other enough to get married at such a young age. I was only 19 when my dad posed the question. Well obviously we did. Peewee and I got married on December 21th 1985 at the justice of the peace. We had a wedding reception in my parents family room. Peewee and my big brother invited what seemed to be all their friends. Me on the other hand only invited my three best friends. This was not exactly what a girl dreams of for her wedding day. I actually got married in a yellow sweater dress when I was 8 months.

Thank God things got better ! Our beautiful daughter Ryan was born on January 17th 1986. Almost one one month to the day of our wedding. TO GOD BE THE GLORY GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE !!! After Ryan Parnell and I had two sons. Parnell (alias Flipper because he flipped throughout my pregnancy ) and Isiah Minter. Our children are now 24, 23., and 21 years old. We also have our two children in heaven who we named Judah and Justice. they would be 27 and 26 years old. My husband an I have now been happily married for 25 years now.

We never had or considered any abortions after Ryan was born. However, we did not know what it meant to be pro life until 2003. I did not know anything about pro life or pro choice until I attended a rally in Frankfort to support my pastor. He asked members to attend this event where he would be speaking. I went simply because he had been a tremendous blessing to my family. It was there that the Lord opened my eyes to what I had done to my babies at the age of 17 and 18 and what I almost did to Ryan.

That evening I met my Pastor at the church. I confessed my sins and I asked God to forgive me and I received his forgiveness. In that very meeting Pastor Blye began to educate me on the detrimental effect abortion was having on our nation and families as a whole and the African American family imp articular. He pointed out how blacks only make up 13 % of the population but we account for 35 % of the abortions. It was at that point in the conversation when he said " ANGIE WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING " It kind of reminds me of the profound statement my father made when he said " YOU CAN'T KILL THAT BABY " Only this time GOD WAS CALLING ME TO BE USED OF HIM TO HELP OTHER WOMEN CHOOSE LIFE FOR THEIR BABIES. My response to Pastor Blye was " I am willing to do whatever God would have me to do. Within a week I was on the radio sharing my secrets, my story of death and victory. Educating the community on the importance of standing for life. Sisters' For Life was launched and became a 501c3 corporation. However, it was at the capital building in Frankfort at a Kentucky Right To Life rally, THAT I BECAME PRO LIFE !!!
